Danish Pastry Dough
Our fresh Danish Dough is a fine sweet layered yeast dough. It combines the best properties of yeast dough and puff pastry dough, making fine baked goods both buttery and fluffy, and soft and crisp at the same time. Similar to puff pastry, thin layers of fat are incorporated into the pastry, creating a layered texture. It is not as flaky as puff pastry, but has a nice rather compact consistency on the inside.
This all-time favorite pastry dough has different names around the world. In Denmark, Norway and Sweden, it is called “wienerbrød/wienerbröd”, or “Viennese bread”. In Finland, people call it “viineri”. In Austria, it is named “Plundergebaeck”.
We offer our Danish Dough in two different styles – standard (margarine) and premium (butter). It comes in a convenient rectangle shape conveniently rolled on baking paper. Simply roll out and it is ready to use.
Danish Dough can be used in many ways to create sweet recipes. It is ideal with fruit, jam, custard, nuts and cream cheese filling and can be rolled, folded, twisted, braided, etc. to create a unique and easy recipe.
